Fall Dressing

It's that time of year again! Here I take a look back at some of the trends of the fall 2013 collections.

Proenza Schouler, Alexander Wang, Chanel, Balenciaga, Celine
There was a huge focus on minimal colours this season. Black, white and grey were all over the runways. Having a wardrobe full of these colours would make for easy outfit-planning. Also in the monochrome trend were other neutral colours like navy and cream.
Bottega Veneta, Valentino, Rochas, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior
Fall took Dior's New Look of the 1950's and gave it a modern twist. Luxurious fabrics formed A-line dresses and skirts. Trés chic.
Prada, Marni, Fendi, Marc Jacobs, Hermès
Whether in the form of a chubby jacket, cuffs or a stole, fur featured in many of the collections. Most of the fur came in shades of brown, but the birds-of-paradise at Fendi were decked out in a rainbow of colours. Regardless of colour, a  fur coat is definitely an investment for fall dressing.
Jil Sander, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Max Mara, Christopher Kane
Coats came in a variety of shapes, colours and textures for fall. The oversized silhouette, however, was a stand-out. A great way to add a masculine aspect to any outfit.

What I would pack for NYFW

Unfortunately I am not going to New York Fashion Week... But if I was, this is what I would bring with me (in an ideal world where I actually owned these things, of course).

1. Rochas black tote
The practical and stylish essential. I would want to have everything I needed with me at all times. Who knows what mysterious things could be stowed away in there!

2. Chloe sandals
Best saved for a warmer day, these sandals may look painful, but seem as though they would add a chic,  minimalist touch to any outfit.

3. Celine clutch
Could work for both day and evening wear. Stylish and versatile!

4. Valentino dress
I loved every look of this collection so it would be hard to choose just one piece. This elegant dress can be worn in so many ways. For NYFW, I would add a pair of statement earrings (see below) or wear under a fur coat if it was chilly.
5. Dolce and Gabbana earrings
Beautiful Italian baroque. Not much more to say, really.

6. Jil Sander heels
Who doesn't love this combination of metallic, neon and taupe?

7. Balenciaga jacket
A little bit bad-ass. Especially if Karlie Kloss was wearing it with black skinny jeans.

8. Proenza Schouler jacket (or entire outfit)
Classic and understated but still oozes that effortless cool that Jack and Lazaro have mastered.

9. Fendi heels
So desirable in this brown/maroon colour and possibly very versatile for fashion week.

10. Lanvin outfit
I'm invited to a fabulously exclusive party? Lucky I have this exact Lanvin outfit on hand!
(A girl can dream...)

When Winter Approaches

The days are becoming cooler and this can only mean one thing: A new winter wardrobe! I've chosen looks from Fall 2012 that will inspire my winter dressing.

Lots of warm coats and jackets, knitwear, cropped trousers and wearable shoes!
